Q: Do you offer a warranty on your horns? A: We offer a one year limited warranty against manufacturing defects. The full text appears on our Warranty page. A note about "acid bleed": When the bell rim is soldered, some acid (in the form of flux) may remain inside the bead. We take care so that when we bake the lacquer, if an acid bleed were to occur, the horn would still be in our hands, and therefore the condition could be corrected. The horns are all inspected carefully by many individuals prior to shipping, however an acid bleed can occur later. What sometimes happens is that a bump or other damage to the bell months or even years later - or sometimes even cleaning in an ultrasonic tank more powerful than ours - can cause minuscule cracks in the solder, allowing moisture to get in and later expand to push the acid out. |
Q: Who plays your horns? A: Some of the numerous artists who play Kanstul brasswinds are Herb Alpert, Doc Severinsen, Arturo Sandoval, Greg Adams, Richard Steuart, Claudio Roditi, Tim Wendt, Bennie Cowan, George Roberts, Mike Suter, Steve Reid, Charley Davis, John Engelkes, Les Benedict, Alan Kaplan and many others. Our outstanding instruments can be heard at Disneyland, and in our nation's capitol including the top military service bands and ensembles: the Naval Academy Drum & Bugle Corps, the US Marines "Commandant's Own" Drum & Bugle Corps, the 3rd Infantry "Old Guard" Fife and Drum Corps, the US Air Force Concert Band, the Navy School of Music and more. |
Q: How long have you been around? A: Kanstul Musical Instruments has been in business since 1982, however Zig Kanstul has been designing and building horns for over 50 years. |
Q: What should I use to clean my horn? A: For horns with a lacquered finish, wipe clean with a soft cloth, such as double knap flannel or microfiber. We use Tarni-Shield on silver plated horns. We mix the product half and half with water. It goes on evenly, dries quickly and polishes off easily with double knap flannel. |
Q: What kind of valve oil do you recommend? A: We do not recommend any particular brand of valve oil, however any high quality pro oil is acceptable for use on Kanstul horns. |
Q: How do I become an authorized Kanstul dealer? A: Please contact our Sales Manager Charles Hargett at (714) 563 1000, or by email, sales@kanstul.com |
