Zig Kanstul designed the first bell-front marching brass for Olds, and then later updated and improved his designs for King, many of which are still in production today. In the early 1980's Zig Kanstul began producing bugles and marching brass under his own name, and at one time most of the DCI Top Twelve corps performed on Kanstul bugles. Credited with innovations such as upright pistons and the tune-any-note feature, it is no exaggeration to state that Zig Kanstul is the father of modern marching brass.
The US Marines "Commandant's Own" performs on custom-built two-valve G bugles made by Kanstul while the US Naval Academy performs on our famous three valve Custom Class bugles. |
